Why do we need ANOTHER model agency?

 

Why not? Since I started as a casting director, nearly 10 years ago now (ugh), the

face – and faces – of the modelling industry has changed. There’s been a fantastic,

seismic shift towards diversity and inclusivity, but not everyone has caught up just

yet. We also wanted to create an agency that gives our talent more professional

autonomy and freedom, where they felt heard and respected as well as giving our

clients some fresh faces.

Why “Plebs”?

 

“Plebs” comes from the Latin term plebeian meaning a commoner, or someone of

the lower social classes. I got a bit tired of models always being separated into two

categories, “real people” and “real models”. If you stand in front of a camera and promote a product then you’re both a real model and a real person. It also happens to be the only part of my Classics degree that I’ve ever used. Well worth the £60k debt…

 

How do you find your talent?

 

As well as talent applying direct, I do a lot of street casting, and have always been comfortable approaching people in cafes, shops, beer gardens etc. I’m very much a

people person, so I’ll chat to anyone, anywhere. Personality is always what strikes

me first when scouting – it’s a little spark behind the eyes.​

What makes a good Pleb?

 

Modelling isn’t always as glamorous as it sounds. You may be asked to do some

truly weird and wonderful things to make the shot work. Shoutout to one of our models who  had to hold a newborn that puked all over their back. Leave your ego in the dressing room and throw yourself into it. Don’t half-arse it... always use your full arse.
